Let the fun begin!

Day 1 of blogging...I think we are off to a good start.  I showed my students the blog during snack and they seem to be excited  about "being caught on camera" to show their parents.  If only they wouldn't look at me right as I take the picture...CHEESE!  Today we practiced listening and sorting pictures by their ending sounds.  We had new Daily 5 centers with activities including the letter Ll, ending sounds, switching sounds in CVC words to make new words, work with the star word "have", and journal writing.  Here are a few pictures of students being "IN THE ZONE" during Read to Self time.

In math we practiced drawing pictures for subtraction stories.  We also played the game "Piggy Bank Subtraction" using the concept of subtraction -1.

Thanks to Kindergarten Crayons for this great activity.

Our Unit of Study this week will be on our great state of Minnesota.  Today we started by talking about Me on the Map.  Your child made a cute book to depict each piece starting with them and leading up to our world.

Ready to begin!

Here it is folks...my kindergarten blog.  I thought I would start out by introducing myself and my family a bit more.  I have been teaching for the Sartell-St. Stephen school district for 13 years.  I have taught both kindergarten and first grade.  I love these little ones and watching them learn the basics especially reading.
I married my husband, Luke, in 2010.  He works for Braun Intertec Geothermal.  We live in St. Cloud, MN.  This fall we became the proud parents of an adorable little boy named Jaxon.  He is growing so fast and is already 4 months old.  We love spending time playing, singing, babbling, and reading books.  He also loves to listen to me sing or say nursery rhymes.  He has recently began rolling from his back to tummy which is both wonderful and a curse during nap and bedtime.  He loves to grasp at toys and pull mommy's hair.  OUCH!

I am hoping that parents and teachers will find this blog useful.  I have been investigating other teacher blogs the last couple months and found numerous ideas and examples.  Thanks PINTEREST!!!  I would like to share activities with parents and teachers alike.  So here we go!
