Muffins for Moms

This morning was "Muffins for Moms" at PME.  I saw a few special ladies with their offspring.  Hope you enjoy the weekend!

We are beginning our farm unit next week.  We kicked it off today with an oldie but goodie, Mrs. Wishy Washy.  Check out our craftivity with mud poems!  They are hanging on our lockers.

Down on the Farm Part 2

This week we read several farm books.  We got to act them out, visualize pictures while reading, and make a class book.  See our hard work below.

We FINALLY got to take our turn at Earthway Farms in South Haven, MN.  We had a beautiful day.
OMG, did we get to smell, hear, and see lots of things.  I have pictures of each activity.  It will be like you were all there with us.  There is even a video of the awesome barn dance.

Down on the Farm

OH..we're on our way, we're on our way, on our way to Earthway Farms!  We will be heading out for a full day field trip on Friday, May 18th.  The last two weeks we have been reading informational text about farmers and farm animals.  Students were asked to complete a can/have/are map about each and use these facts in their writing.  Students wrote three sentences using correct sentence structure (capital letter, spacing, and punctuation).  Here are a few samples of each topic.

We used all facts we knew and compared two farm animals.  We did one whole group.  The next day students completed a comparison on their own.  See samples below.

Muffins for Moms was held this morning!  What a wonderful start to this special weekend.  I know I am looking forward to my first Mother's Day with Jaxon.  Here are a few students/moms from our class.
